Frock is a start-up vintage and handmade fashion label based in Manchester, UK.
Run by Lucy, Frock is founded on the belief that vintage and handmade clothing can be a unique, affordable, fashionable and sustainable alternative to fast high street fashion.
Our aim is to dress you in on trend yet classic and well-made pieces that you won’t see five other people wearing, and which you will treasure past next season – whether you buy them from us, or are inspired to make them yourself!
We search high and low to handpick old and sometimes unflattering clothes (hello 80s shoulder pads!) with the best potential; like cute patterns and unusual details, to create new, beautiful and – most importantly – wearable clothes without the need to produce lots of new materials and waste.* Something new from something old – magic! Though if we find something in mint condition we’ll leave it just as it is, perfect.
We don’t just want to sell clothes. We want to inspire people to think differently about their wardrobes. On the Frock blog you’ll find plenty of DIY fashion tutorials, vintage styling tips and vintage buying guides to help you get started and learn new skills.
My love of vintage clothing started in childhood, playing with my elder sisters in a dressing up box full of lace nighties, embroidered silk jackets, beaded purses and high heels.
Today not much has changed, and I can still usually be found rummaging through piles of clothes to find something to play with.
When I’m not making clothes, I run Fi & Me with my sister Fiona and blog about all things handmade. I also enjoy yoga, running, photography and design.* Most of the offcuts from Frock go in to making handmade gifts for our other business, Fi & Me.
