1980s style handmade Japanese lilac and blue striped top

A beautiful handmade top with cap sleeves and pleated collar, finished off with a tiny bow at the neckline and a keyhole with button and loop at the back of the neck to fasten. The fabric is soft and silky, but doesn't crease so I presume it is synthetic or a blend.

It is bright, simple, elegant and very easy to wear. Can be worn smart, under a simple jacket, or casually with jeans.  

Because this is handmade, it's really hard to date or tell the origin, but I did get this with a lot of other Japanese vintage and the very delicate handstitching of the collar is consistent with Japanese sewing and construction techniques. The dotted vertical stripes in blue and lilac give it a distinctly 1980s feel.

Due to the unknown nature of the fabric, I would suggest handwashing.
